My kumu from the Koa Mana lineage of Waianae, O’ahu frequently shares - “ignorance is the greatest evil.” Knowledge forms the foundation of our capacity to make change, supporting our ability to show up as intentional agents to guide living culture in harmonious co-creation. Learning from and with others in community are some of my greatest joys.

In addition to my independent research, I’ve engaged with the following programs, cultural elders and teachers who share lineal and ancestral knoweldge through story, demonstration, practice and relationship. In learning relationships, the student engages by bringing their knowledge and capacities to the table, growing the field of understanding, deepening connections, weaving context and extending impact. 

If I have learned anything from my teachers, it is that knowledge does not equate to understanding. To gain understanding, knowledge must be lived. Learning then becomes a personal journey, initiating direct revelation, instruction and wisdom.
